Sitting at an airport restaurant in Amsterdam. Just had a bolognese pasta that would make an Italian never visit Amsterdam. Microwaved, but hey, they're workin’. Stayed at the flying pig these last 2 nights. That place is beautiful. The environment it induces is so unique. A conversation with 7 people, all hailing from different countries. Saoud from Jedda, Carlos from Peru, Troy and his daughter from Manchester, Baruk from Turkey, me and Jacobi from America. The blends of culture and conversation that take place are quite unique. All from different backgrounds able to relate in conversation/personal life history. Everyone has their thing, their story, their movie. All experiencing this same world. Living their own, but were all intertwined through the human experience. Alcohol, cigarettes, and weed helps too. It was quite rainy and cold during our time in Amsterdam, but I didn't mind. Wet shoes and socks, sideways rain. Still happy to be there. We get coffee in the morning and relate over cartoon network with Baruk. He says talking to us makes him feel like he is in a movie due to the existence of Hollywood. People from Europe tell me I have a charming accent, and the reply every time is, “Really?”. It's important to be a foreigner out of your home country. There are so many other cultures and languages and people to meet and listen to, take it all in. Getting drunk with strangers may be one of the best things in the world. Even when it's awkward. A word doesn't translate and you don't know if you should explain further or sit in silence for a moment to think of a better way to say something. Amsterdam’s misty beauty encapsulates. The tall architecture makes you want to walk forever, seeing the different colors of every building. Yes, the flight is delayed. But I feel good. Get any weight holding you down, dealt with. It's your life. You can always fly away. Amsterdam is hiring. If all else fails, work at a coffee shop. Shiny eyes into the world. This is just what I pick up on.
