Loud voices in French, dried up creeks in the italian countryside, and high speed trains deliver me first to Milano. I sleep for most of the ride, most likely mouth agape, eyes directed toward the ceiling where passengers luggage lays. Florence to Milano to Chiasso to Lucerne. Flat landscapes evaporate in the distance, matched with eerie fog not allowing me to recognize how truly flat this land is. Agriculture spread out, 280 KPH, speeding by other trains, the only thing in sight as the fog thickens, crops and telephone poles. Loud passengers. Writing with one eye open, trying not to pass out. Public transportation lulls me into sleep.
